Intel revealed Project Firefly, a plan to make affordable laptops around the Wildcat Lake CPUs and memory chips originally intended for smartphones, leveraging the smartphone supply chain to cut costs. The reference designs feature a thin metal chassis, a lightweight cooling system, and practical port selection (USB-C, USB-A, HDMI), with manufacturing partnerships in China intended to speed time-to-market and compete with entry‑level MacBooks like the MacBook Neo.
