"Carbohydrate Intake Changes Linked to Long-Term Weight Changes: Prospective Study"

A prospective cohort study examined the association between changes in carbohydrate intake and long-term weight changes. The study included over 136,000 men and women and found that increases in glycemic index and glycemic load were positively associated with weight gain. However, increased intake of carbohydrates from whole grains, fruit, and non-starchy vegetables was inversely associated with weight gain. Replacing refined grains, starchy vegetables, and sugar-sweetened beverages with whole grains, fruit, and non-starchy vegetables was associated with less weight gain. These associations were stronger among participants with overweight or obesity. The study highlights the importance of carbohydrate quality and source for long-term weight management, especially for individuals with excessive body weight.

Insights on SARS-CoV-2 infection and protection from multi-specific antibody platform and neonatal mouse model.

A prospective cohort study of adults with and without SARS-CoV-2 infection at 85 enrolling sites located in 33 states plus Washington, DC, and Puerto Rico has developed a definition of postacute sequelae of SARS-CoV-2 infection (PASC) using self-reported symptoms. The study identified 37 symptoms across multiple pathophysiological domains that were present more often in SARS-CoV-2–infected participants at 6 months or more after infection compared with uninfected participants. A preliminary rule for identifying PASC was derived based on a composite symptom score. The findings require iterative refinement that further incorporates clinical features to arrive at actionable definitions of PASC.
