Protein p53: Linking Autism-like Behavior, Memory, and Learning
Researchers have discovered a direct link between the protein p53 and autism-like behavior in mice. Manipulating p53 levels in the mouse hippocampus resulted in repetitive behavior, diminished sociability, and impaired learning, particularly in male mice. This study sheds light on the role of p53 in neurodevelopmental disorders like autism and highlights its importance in regulating sociability, repetitive behavior, and hippocampus-related learning and memory.
