"2000-Year-Old Knife Unveils Denmark's Oldest Writing"

Archaeologists in Denmark have discovered a small iron knife with runic letters dating back almost 2,000 years, making it the oldest known writing in the country. The five runic letters spell out the word "hirila," meaning "small sword" in the Proto-Norse language, shedding light on the development of language and interactions in ancient Scandinavia. This discovery provides insight into the early use of writing in the region, as prior to this finding, there were no traces of writing before the Roman Iron Age.
