Linux Kernel Prepares AVX-512 RAID Parity Boost for v7.4
Linux kernel developers have finalized an AVX-512 optimized version of the xor_gen function, which significantly accelerates parity block generation for software RAID 5 and RAID 6 arrays. Led by Eric Biggers of Google, the update missed the Linux v7.3 release due to necessary cleanup of CPU feature flag handling but is now targeted for the v7.4 cycle. Testing on AMD Ryzen 9 9950X hardware demonstrates substantial performance gains, particularly for arrays with four to eight disks.
