Nasal Spray: A Fast and Simple Solution for Rapid Heartbeat
A nasal spray drug called etripamil has shown promise in treating paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia (PSVT), a condition characterized by rapid heartbeats. In a study involving 169 participants, 60% of PSVT episodes resolved within 30 minutes after using the nasal spray, and 75% resolved within an hour. The drug, if proven safe and effective, could provide immediate relief for patients and reduce the burden on emergency healthcare systems. However, further research and FDA approval are needed before it can be widely used.
