House Democratic Lawmaker Safely Escapes Rocket Fire in Israeli Hotel
Rep. Dan Goldman, a House Democratic lawmaker from New York, and his family were forced to take shelter in a hotel in Israel due to a barrage of rocket attacks launched by Hamas. They stayed in a stairwell until early Sunday morning when they departed for New York. Goldman expressed gratitude for the assistance of the State Department and Israeli authorities and called for support of Israel's right to defend itself. Sen. Cory Booker and his staff were also in Israel during the attacks and sheltered in place before cutting their trip short.
