Virginia Polls Show Democrats Closing Gap in Key House Districts
A new Washington Post-Schar School poll indicates Democrat Shannon Taylor is within the margin of error of incumbent Republican Rob Wittman in Virginia’s 1st Congressional District. While Wittman won by 13 points in 2024, the current survey shows a significant leftward shift, with Taylor leading 50% to 46%. This trend mirrors national polling where Democrats are gaining ground in the House generic ballot, though Trump’s low approval ratings remain a liability for Republican incumbents like Wittman and John McGuire in the 5th District.
