The Dual Legacy of J. Robert Oppenheimer: Atomic Bombs and Black Holes
Before becoming known as the "father of the atomic bomb," J. Robert Oppenheimer made significant contributions to the science of black holes. In 1939, he and his colleague published a pioneering paper on the collapse of stars into black holes using Einstein's theory of general relativity.
