Mixed signals for US economy as yields climb and unemployment falls.
US Treasury yields and S&P futures closed higher after the Labor Department reported that nonfarm payrolls increased by 236,000 jobs in March, largely in line with market expectations. The dollar strengthened and expectations for a rate hike at the Federal Reserve's May meeting increased. The unemployment rate dipped to 3.5% from 3.6% in the prior month.
