Heavy clashes hit Iran’s southeast as security forces report casualties
Clashes between Iranian security forces and unidentified gunmen spread across Saravan in Sistan-Baluchestan, beginning near a residential property in Bakhshan and continuing for hours near the Madani Grand Mosque and Jahadabad. Gunmen attacked military vehicles and gatherings of forces; rights group Haalvsh reported dozens killed or wounded, though figures are unverified and no official casualty toll has been issued. Security forces blocked roads and maintained a heavy presence, with the gunmen’s identities and motives not disclosed. The region has a history of Baluch insurgency and tensions remain high.
