SF WNBA Rally Highlights Culture War Over Women’s Sports
Pro‑women’s‑sports activists hosted a rally outside San Francisco’s Chase Center before the Golden State Valkyries vs. Minnesota Lynx game, but pro‑trans counterprotesters outnumbered them. Lynx coach Cheryl Reeve framed the Save Women’s Sports movement as a political talking point and urged education, while Valkyries coach Natalie Nakase condemned hate speech and urged leading with love. Reeve has previously supported trans athletes; she wore a “trans kids belong” shirt during a Fever game. Security allowed some shirts but warned signs at times. The Lynx defeated the Valkyries 77‑66, and organizers say more rallies are planned at other WNBA games this week.
