Tragic Death of Disabled Girl on School Bus Leads to Charges for Negligent Monitor
A New Jersey school bus monitor, Amanda Davila, has been charged with manslaughter and child endangerment after a six-year-old disabled girl, Faja Williams, died when she was strangled by a safety harness. Prosecutors allege that Davila, who had headphones on, failed to notice that Faja was unable to breathe. Faja had a rare disorder called Emanuel syndrome, which left her unable to speak or walk. The investigation revealed that Davila was using her cellphone and wearing earbud headphones in violation of policies and procedures. Faja's parents expressed their grief and devastation, while the bus company stated that they would support any punishment determined by the justice system.
