Wings Move On From Cossa, Acquire No. 23 Pick to Draft Hurlbert
Detroit traded goalie Sebastian Cossa to the Utah Mammoth for a first-round pick (No. 23), which the Wings used to select Kamloops left wing J.P. Hurlbert. Cossa, 23, never secured a stable NHL role despite flashes in the minors, and fellow Czech rookie Michal Postava posted stronger numbers (GAA 1.71, SV% .937) and led the Griffins' playoff run, making him the likely backup. With Cossa no longer waiver-exempt, Detroit opted to recoup the asset and pivot to Postava, effectively ending Cossa’s Detroit career after 45 NHL minutes.
