Minnesota's Massive Solar Farm Set for Major Expansion
Xcel Energy is expanding its Sherco Solar project in Minnesota, making it one of the largest solar farms in the US. The project, which is expected to come online by the end of 2025, will have a capacity of 710 MW, making it the largest solar farm in the Upper Midwest. Once operational, Sherco Solar will generate enough electricity to power over 150,000 Minnesota homes annually. Xcel Energy plans to shut down all of Sherco's coal generators by 2030 and is investing over $1 billion in the Minnesota project.
