"Russian Soldiers' Wives Protest in Moscow Leads to Journalists' Detainment"
Around 20 journalists, including a Reuters video journalist, were detained by Russian police in central Moscow while covering a rally of soldiers' wives demanding the return of their men from the front in Ukraine. The journalists were released a few hours later without charge. The rally, which was not coordinated with the authorities, saw at least 27 people detained, most of whom were journalists. The movement of Russian women demanding the return of their mobilized relatives has been growing since President Vladimir Putin's decree in September 2022.
