Sega Unveils Dual Sonic Switch Collections for 35th Anniversary

Sega announced two physical Sonic collections for Nintendo Switch to celebrate the 35th anniversary: the Sonic Classic Collection bundling Sonic Origins, Sonic Mania, and Sonic Superstars, and the Sonic Modern Collection bundling Sonic Frontiers, Sonic Colors: Ultimate, and Sonic Forces. Both editions are priced at $49.99 and set to launch in October 2026, each including a special 35th Anniversary reversible coversheet and a logo patch.

Christian Whitehead Unveils Sonic Mania 2 Prototype Artwork

Christian Whitehead revealed prototype artwork of a potential Sonic Mania 2, showcasing a 2.5D Badnik called Kanga Clanga, which was part of a concept for a next-generation Sonic game that never materialized. The artwork and a custom 'Outback' beat highlight what could have been, as Sega moved away from pixel art and Sonic Mania's sequel was ultimately not developed. Whitehead's studio later worked on Penny's Big Breakaway, and Sonic Mania was followed by Sonic Superstars.
