Sony ECM-W5: A Premium Wireless Mic System with 32-bit Float and 500m Range
Sony has launched the ECM-W5, a $400 wireless microphone kit featuring 32-bit float recording, 96kHz audio, and a 500-meter transmission range. Designed to compete with DJI’s affordable options, the system offers superior integration with Sony Alpha cameras via the Multi Interface Shoe, allowing direct in-camera recording without external sync. While pricier than rivals, it provides robust backup storage and external mic support for professional workflows.
