IndyCar to Race on National Mall for Freedom 250 Grand Prix
IndyCar will stage a 1.7-mile, seven-turn street race on Washington, D.C.'s National Mall Aug. 22–23—the first auto race there—combining a fast Pennsylvania Avenue section with technical turns near 9th Street and offering views of monuments and museums; the event is free and open to the public, with a rolling preview IndyCar car touring the DMV, and is part of the Freedom 250 semiquincentennial celebration run by the federal government and Monumental Sports & Entertainment, with buildout starting this summer and roads kept largely open during construction.
