Kirkwood seals chaotic D.C. IndyCar street race as Palou falters
Kyle Kirkwood dominated the 1.7-mile DC street circuit, leading 128 of 147 laps to win the Freedom 250 by 3.0906 seconds over Christian Lundgaard. Pole-sitter Alex Palou endured penalties, a loose wheel, and a late spin, finishing 20th and shrinking his championship cushion; Lundgaard climbed to runner-up as rising talents Kyffin Simpson, Caio Collet and Mick Schumacher shone; Scott McLaughlin wrecked on a late restart; David Malukas crashed out early; Marcus Armstrong received a 10-second stop-and-hold penalty for avoidable contact, dropping to 17th.
