Rapid disintegration of sea ice near the junction of two large outlet glaciers in northeast Greenland occurred due to seasonal warmth and wind-driven effects. The disintegration was likely caused by warm and weak sea ice, with some of the warmth coming from a nearby lake collecting summer meltwater.
