Florida's Recent Spate of Shark and Alligator Attacks
Two men were bitten by sharks in separate incidents in southern Florida in less than 36 hours. A 35-year-old man fishing off a dock in Summerland Key was bitten in the foot by a shark, while a 20-year-old Miami-Dade County man was bitten in the leg by a shark while spearfishing in Marathon. Both were transported to hospitals for treatment, and their conditions are unknown. Shark bites are rare in Florida waters, but the state has topped global charts in the number of shark bites for decades.
