"GM Recalls 820K Pickup Trucks for Tailgate Problem"
General Motors is recalling about 820,000 Chevrolet and GMC pickup trucks in North America due to a tailgate issue that could cause the tailgate to unlatch and open unexpectedly, potentially leading to the loss of unsecured cargo and an increased risk of a crash. The recall covers certain 2020-2024 model year Chevrolet Silverado 2500, 3500, and GMC Sierra 2500 and 3500 vehicles with power unlatching tailgates, and the remedy involves replacing the exterior touchpad switch assemblies with a new material that's more resistant to water intrusion. GM is pausing sales of the affected trucks and plans to send notification letters to owners on March 18.
