NFC Forum unveils roadmap for faster, more powerful and contactless technology.

The NFC Forum, which standardizes NFC technology, is planning to improve the communication range of NFC from 5mm to 30mm, increase wireless charging power from 1W to 3W, and add a "multi-purpose tap" that could perform several actions in one tap. These changes will make point-of-sale transactions easier and allow for wireless charging of smaller devices like earbuds.
