Gaza's Communication Blackout: Palestinians Use Donated eSIM Cards to Stay Connected
In the midst of a near-total phone and internet blackout in the Gaza Strip, Palestinians are using donated eSIM cards to connect with the outside world. These eSIMs, obtained through international donors and distributed by activists, allow some access to wireless networks by catching roaming signals from Israeli or Egyptian cell towers. The blackout, caused by a combination of electricity blockades and damaged infrastructure from Israeli airstrikes, has left many without the ability to communicate, leading to a humanitarian crisis in the region.
