"Anthropic Unveils Upgraded Entry-Level LLM for Enhanced Performance"
Anthropic, the AI startup co-founded by ex-OpenAI executives, has released an updated version of its text-generating model, Claude Instant. The new version, Claude Instant 1.2, incorporates improvements from Anthropic's flagship model, Claude 2, showing gains in areas such as math, coding, reasoning, and safety. It generates longer, more structured responses, follows formatting instructions better, and has improved quote extraction, multilingual capabilities, and question answering. Claude Instant 1.2 is also less likely to generate incorrect or nonsensical text and is more resistant to jailbreaking attempts. It features a context window of 100,000 tokens, similar to Claude 2, allowing it to analyze roughly 75,000 words. Anthropic aims to create a next-gen algorithm for AI self-teaching, but Claude Instant is positioned as a competitor to entry-level offerings from OpenAI and other startups. Anthropic claims to have thousands of customers and partners, including Quora and DuckDuckGo.
