xAI Cofounder Exodus Narrows Team to Two
Most of xAI’s cofounders have left, with Zihang Dai exiting this week and Guodong Zhang expected to depart soon, leaving only two of the original 11 founders (Manuel Kroiss and Ross Nordeen) remaining. Earlier exits include Toby Pohlen, Jimmy Ba, Tony Wu, and Greg Yang. The company has reorganized under Musk, hired Cursor alumni Jason Ginsberg and Andrew Milich, and Musk says xAI is being rebuilt from the foundations up; SpaceX reportedly owns xAI and an IPO is being considered as projects like Grok Code and Grok Imagine undergo changes.
