Canada backs West Coast oil link to Asia to unite provinces and expand exports
Prime Minister Mark Carney announced a public-private West Coast pipeline to ship up to one million barrels per day of Alberta oil to Asian markets, a policy shift aimed at boosting exports, addressing western separatism, and strengthening national unity. The project involves the Alberta government, Trans Mountain Corporation, and Pembina Pipeline, with funding details to be negotiated, and comes alongside a separate Canada–British Columbia deal to support LNG and mining projects.
