Boston travel influencer recalls hantavirus scare aboard Hondius cruise
A Boston-based travel influencer, Jake Rosmarin, described the hantavirus outbreak aboard the cruise ship MV Hondius in the South Atlantic, noting that few onboard realized the severity early on; after a Dutch passenger died and several others fell ill (nine confirmed cases, three deaths total), about 150 people were evacuated and Rosmarin began a 42‑day quarantine in Omaha, Nebraska. He has since appeared on national TV programs (GMA, Today, CNN), while officials say the risk to the general public remains low.
