Biden administration invests millions in water resources and infrastructure projects.
The Biden administration is investing $343 million in tribal water resources and conservation efforts across the Colorado River Basin, with $233 million going to the Gila River Indian Community for water conservation projects. The funds come from a $15.4 billion allocation from the bipartisan infrastructure law and Inflation Reduction Act, which aims to bolster the West’s resilience to drought. The investment will immediately reduce water demand, maximize water resources via infrastructure upgrades, and ensure that Western communities have the tools they need to withstand the impacts of drought and climate change.
