Escalating Attacks on US Troops in Middle East Raise Concerns
The number of troops injured in drone attacks on U.S. forces in Iraq and Syria has risen to 56, according to the Pentagon. The attacks, which have targeted the Al-Asad airbase, have occurred 46 times between October 17 and November 9. Of the 56 injuries, three occurred on Wednesday, including two traumatic brain injuries. The U.S. has responded with retaliatory strikes on Iranian-backed militia facilities, and the Pentagon has warned of further escalation. The U.S. has increased its force presence in the Middle East in response to the attacks.
