The Poisoned Umbrella: A Cold War Murder in London

Georgi Markov, a Bulgarian dissident in London, was killed in 1978 after a ricin‑tipped pellet was fired from a modified umbrella at Waterloo Bridge; forensic analysis linked the pellet to a sophisticated, state‑level plot. Warnings to Markov’s family months earlier, plus a parallel attack on another Bulgarian exile and later admissions by former KGB officers, pointed to Bulgarian secret service involvement with possible KGB coordination. The murder, carried out on Todor Zhivkov’s birthday, underscored Cold War state‑sponsored assassination at the highest levels. Porton Down confirmed ricin as the toxin, and while Bulgaria closed the case in 2013, the UK still regards it as an open inquiry; no charges have ever been filed.

"Gunbrella: A Stylish and Brollyant 2D Platformer with Bullets"

Gunbrella is a 2D platform shooter set in a steampunk western world, where players control a cowboy with a shotgun that doubles as an umbrella. The game offers fun and nimble traversal options, such as dashing, double-jumping, and gliding on the wind. In combat, the umbrella acts as a shield and can deflect shots back at enemies. Gunbrella is a linear adventure with dungeon-style levels and focuses on forward progress and encounters with smart enemies. While it lacks the complexity of a Metroidvania, the game provides entertaining blasting and umbrella-based gameplay. However, it falls short in terms of strategic depth and customization options. Overall, Gunbrella is a short and enjoyable shooter with a unique weapon and a steampunk aesthetic.
