Dallas Tech Veteran Gautam Dev Weighs Return to India After Two-Year Job Drought
Gautam Dev, a 61-year-old IIT Kanpur alumnus and former software engineer in Dallas, has been unable to secure full-time employment for nearly two years. After resigning in September 2024 to avoid relocation, Dev faced a hiring freeze, age bias, and a lack of AI skills. His savings are depleted, forcing him into gig work and a GoFundMe campaign. He is now considering a return to India while awaiting Social Security benefits in January 2027.
