Third rabies case in Wayne County prompts pet vaccination clinics
A barn cat in Galen tested positive for rabies on June 9, and a person exposed to the virus is receiving treatment, following rabid cases in neighboring Lyons and Sodus. Wayne County will host two pet vaccination clinics: June 25 (6-8 p.m.) at the Lyons School District bus garage and June 27 (10 a.m.-12 p.m.) at the Town of Wolcott Highway Department (one clinic is already full). Pre-registration is required by calling (315) 946-5749. Residents should avoid wildlife and ensure all domestic cats, dogs, and ferrets are vaccinated.
