Disco Icon Victor Willis Dies at 74, Co-Writer of YMCA
Victor Willis, 74, the Village People's original lead singer and co-writer of YMCA, died after a short but aggressive illness, the band announced. Willis helped form the disco group, left in 1979 and re-formed it in 2017; President Donald Trump paid tribute, calling him a 'great and happy guy' and praising YMCA's enduring appeal, including its use at rallies.
