Tragic Crash at Volta a Portugal Claims 19-Year-Old Finlay Tarling
British development rider Finlay Tarling, 19, died after injuries from a crash at the Volta a Portugal. RTP reports suggest a vehicle unaffiliated with the race entered the course and collided with Tarling as he rode near the back of Stage 8; the race was suspended with about 20km remaining and award ceremonies were canceled. Tarling’s NSN Development Team and race organizers issued condolences, highlighting his bright potential and family connections (he is the brother of Josh Tarling). Tarling had been under a two-year contract with NSN and had shown promise in events like the GB national U23 time trial.
