Spotify Launches Revenue-Sharing to Rival YouTube for Creators
Spotify will begin paying video creators based on engagement from paid subscribers starting January 2, 2025, in the US, UK, Australia, and Canada. This move aligns Spotify more closely with YouTube, which already compensates creators through shared ad revenue. Automated ad breaks will be disabled for paid subscribers to boost video consumption. The platform has seen significant growth in video podcasts, with over 300,000 now available. Creators can access payout details and analytics through the Spotify for Creators hub, though specific payout calculations remain undisclosed.
