Amazon Union Faces Internal Strains Despite Victory in Warehouse Access Ruling
The National Labor Relations Board's Brooklyn region has concluded that Amazon's policy of restricting warehouse access for off-duty employees is illegal and discriminatory against union supporters. The Amazon Labor Union claims that the policy makes it difficult for workers to talk to co-workers about joining or supporting a union. Portions of the case will go to trial unless Amazon settles beforehand, and if the labor board prevails, Amazon may have to roll back the policy at warehouses nationwide. The board also said the company had illegally failed to bargain with the union.
