North Korea fires two ballistic missiles in short span
Reuters reports North Korea launched two short-range ballistic missiles from the Wonsan area off its east coast within about three hours, with the first flying roughly 450 km and the second over 600 km. Japan and South Korea said both appeared ballistic and the first landed outside Japan’s exclusive economic zone. Seoul condemned the launches and urged Pyongyang to halt missile activity, while Japan protested. The tests follow a UN watchdog resolution and come amid ongoing US–South Korea–Japan drills, fueling regional tensions and Pyongyang’s rhetoric.
