Trump targets Wray over Butler probe, calls for accountability
President Trump accused FBI Director Christopher Wray of mishandling the Butler, Pennsylvania assassination probe and claimed information had been withheld; the FBI’s investigation, concluded in 2025, found the shooter acted alone, while documents reviewed by Sen. Grassley suggested the gunman’s obsession with guns. Current FBI Director Kash Patel testified that the agency has released all documents it legally could, and Trump’s broad critique of Wray comes amid longtime political clashes with former officials from his first term.
