Subaru revealed two limited-production 2027 models at Boxerfest 2026: the WRX GD25 and BRZ ZC15. These anniversary editions honor 25 and 15 years of U.S. sales, respectively, featuring heritage colors, performance upgrades, and strict production caps.
Subaru's WRX, standing for World Rally Experimental, was launched in 1992 as a rally-inspired performance car, achieving significant success in World Rally Championship and other competitions, and has evolved over the years into a standalone model with advanced performance and safety features, continuing its legacy of rally-bred performance into 2025.
Subaru has unveiled its latest WRX-based rally car, the Subaru Motorsports WRX Rally, which will debut at the Ojibwe Forests Rally in August. Powered by a custom-built 2.0-liter four-cylinder boxer engine, the car produces 320 horsepower and 380 pound-feet of torque. Built by Subaru's technical partner Vermont SportsCar, it features a fully seam-welded body, custom suspension, FIA-spec roll cage, and a carbon fiber widebody with a rear wing for added downforce. While not available for purchase, the rally car offers a glimpse into what a hotter WRX could be, as Subaru has yet to reveal an STI version of the sedan.
