Critics Split on Peter Berg’s ‘The Mosquito Bowl’: Technical Brilliance vs. Emotional Hollow
Peter Berg’s new Netflix film, 'The Mosquito Bowl,' premiered at AFI Fest and is set for wide release on October 30, 2026. Adapted from Buzz Bissinger’s book, the 126-minute R-rated drama follows four elite college football players who enlist in the Marines after Pearl Harbor and fight in the Pacific theater. While critics praise the film’s immersive combat sequences and sound design, reviews are sharply divided, with some calling it a powerful anti-war statement and others criticizing it for lacking emotional depth and narrative cohesion.
