Unveiling the Early Signs and Diagnosis of Young-Onset Alzheimer's

Young-onset Alzheimer's disease, a form of dementia that affects individuals before the age of 65, can be diagnosed as early as 30. Unlike late-onset Alzheimer's, the symptoms of young-onset Alzheimer's are often different, including brain fog, anxiety, attention problems, and spatial awareness issues. People with this condition may also experience an increase in anxiety prior to diagnosis, which can be mistaken for other health conditions. Research shows that young-onset Alzheimer's progresses more rapidly and affects different brain areas compared to late-onset Alzheimer's. Genetic factors, including faulty genes related to the accumulation of toxic amyloid beta, play a role in about one in ten cases. Medication and lifestyle changes, such as exercise and a healthy diet, may help manage symptoms and lower the risk of developing young-onset Alzheimer's.
