Zahara Jolie (21) and Maddox Jolie-Pitt (24) have begun formal name-change proceedings to drop their father Brad Pitt’s surname, with Zahara’s petition published four times in the Los Angeles Daily Journal and Maddox’s petition published in a similar four-week window. A Sept. 28 court hearing will determine if the changes are approved; California law requires public publication of a petition and potential objections before a final ruling. Their sister Shiloh previously dropped Pitt from her name on her 18th birthday, and the family has largely distanced themselves from Pitt since Jolie and Pitt’s split, though Pax remains closer to Pitt’s side.
