Cheerios and Ziploc Launch Resealable Cereal Packaging at Walmart
General Mills and SC Johnson have launched Cheerios with Ziploc PantrySeal, a new packaging format featuring a resealable bag inside a traditional cereal box. The product, which includes a partial zipper closure to create a pour spout, is available exclusively at Walmart starting October 27, 2026. This move responds to years of consumer complaints regarding cereal freshness and addresses the fact that 90% of cereal eaters currently use clips or containers to preserve their breakfast. The new packaging is initially offered for original and Honey Nut Cheerios varieties, with a nationwide rollout planned for later in 2026. Production occurs in Buffalo, New York, the same facility where Cheerios was first manufactured in 1941.
