
"Four Ultracompact Binaries Unveiled by Zwicky Transient Facility"
Astronomers using the Zwicky Transient Facility (ZTF) have discovered four new eclipsing accreting ultracompact white dwarf binaries, with orbital periods ranging from 25.9 to 56 minutes. These systems are important for understanding the evolution of white dwarf binaries and the role of gravitational wave radiation in their orbital dynamics. One of the systems exhibits unusual characteristics, suggesting it is a helium cataclysmic variable. Further high-speed photometry and spectroscopic follow-up are needed to fully understand these systems.
