Central Valley parents demand camera mandates after special ed abuse case dismissed

Parents in California’s Central Valley are demanding state legislation to require cameras in special education classrooms after a teacher abuse case was dismissed due to statute of limitations. Online petitions have gathered over 15,000 signatures in Bakersfield and Visalia, citing the inability of nonverbal children to report mistreatment. While the California Teachers Association has no official stance, a 1976 law prohibiting recording devices without consent poses a legislative hurdle.
