Ferrari's Hybrid Sales Surge, Outpacing Internal Combustion Models

Hybrid-powered Ferraris have surpassed traditional internal combustion engine models in sales, with 51% of Ferraris sold between July and September 2021 being hybrids. This marks a significant increase from 19% during the same period last year. The success is attributed to models like the 296 GTB and GTS, as well as the SF90 hybrid hypercar. However, the upcoming release of the non-hybrid V12 crossover, Purosangue, may lead to a decline in hybrid sales. Ferrari aims to have 40% of its lineup fully electric by the end of the 2020s, but has not set a timeline for phasing out internal combustion engines. Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, Ferrari reported a 46% increase in profit, reaching 332 million euros ($352.9 million) in the third quarter of 2021.
