Healthcare Leads Hiring Boom Through 2035 as AI Spurs Utilities Growth

The Bureau of Labor Statistics forecasts slower overall U.S. growth, but healthcare and social assistance will drive the most new jobs, adding about 2.2 million through 2035 (roughly 37% of all new positions). Utilities are projected to grow the fastest (about 9.8%) due to AI-powered data centers, adding roughly 58,800 jobs. The professional, scientific, and technical services sector also rises (second-most jobs, ~926,700) with strong gains in data-related roles (data scientists up ~34.6%, computer scientists up ~21.8%). Conversely, office/administrative support and some sales roles are expected to shrink. Overall, employment is projected to reach around 176.2 million by 2035.
