Yellen acknowledged the headwinds caused by the recent banking crisis and the Fed’s efforts to tame inflation but believes the US economy is performing exceptionally well with continued solid job creation, inflation gradually moving down, and robust consumer spending. The IMF projects US growth to slow this year and next, with the US economy projected to grow just 1.6% this year and 1.1% next year, a slight improvement from the IMF’s projections in January.
